Winn Dixie

We are the proud new parents of a sweet girl named... Winn Dixie. She's 10 weeks old and she's a sweetheart little girl. It was a surprise. Sorry Aerin couldn't have been there, but she is the one that added "Winn" to Tyler's name "Dixie" so its a family dog! She'll meet her Friday and I'll have more pictures to share.

Wow Big Fish

We have been fishing a couple of times already this year, and this is the grand champion bass of the season... so far... but I wouldn't count Hayden out just yet!

This is a perfect form of reference - the fish is as long as Johnny's leg from his ankle to his knee. Big Bass!!

Tyler's 7th Grade Spring Concert

Spring Concert Season for the kids. First one up is Tyler at Fritch.
So you may remember, Tyler plays the drums... on the back row... and his momma cannot see him when he plays. Which really bums me out, BUT next year he will be in the high school marching band, and I'll have lots of pictures of him in his uniform marching!! But for now, I had him step to the side, and I got this picture.Handsome dude!! I love love this picture of Tyler with his Granny. She LOOOOOVES her Tyler. As you can see, he's taller than she is now, which makes it easier for her to hug and kiss him and embarrass him! I had awesome video of Tyler's band - but of course nothing where you could SEE him - but it was too long to upload. If you really neeeeeeeed to hear it, email me, and I'll send it to you! His band did a really great job! Very proud of you T-Man!!

Aerin and Daddy Time

Since we were blessed with a boy weekend over Mother's Day, we were blessed with an Aerin only weekend this past weekend. We raced, we shopped, we practiced softball, we watched movies, we played on the Wii... I'm exhausted. That's her DADDY DON'T BUMP ME look.

My two racing pros battling it out!

Aerin's Band Concert

Next band concert on the agenda is in Sundown, Texas.

Look how PRETTY she is!!!

Last glance at the music before we start... looking super cool on the sax! Aerin's big debut in the Sundown Roughneck 5th Grade Band! (Again, I tried to load a video of her concert, but it wouldn't work... so if you would like me to send you a copy by email, I'd be more than happy to. She did an amazing job. Her entire band is really good.)

Mother's Day

I think Mother's Day is really all about being with your kids, if you can be, and just enjoying the day together. I'm a mom that is most happy when my kids and my husband are happy. We had a happy day together on Mother's Day and that was my joy!! I missed Aerin, but I know she was a blessing to her momma yesterday too! So we spent the whole day at the lease. First we fished a little.I caught the first one... and then I didn't catch one other thing all day! BUT I CAUGHT THE FIRST ONE!!!Yep... Tyler did go with us... and as an almost 13 year old informed his family, "You know... I don't really like to fish." That's ok Tyler. He enjoyed the outdoors on his ipod and playing his game boy. He did drop his line in the water and hoped maybe a catfish would swim by and take it. No takers. We had a picnic lunch and took a mid-day nap (which was kinda my favorite part of the day!) Then we decided to try and get a turkey for Tyler to shoot. Because he DOES like to hunt. We all four got up into the tree stand and waited. God overly blessed us with two bucks and four does that came up under the tree and grazed. That was so amazing to watch with the boys. But we didn't have any turkeys come in. So Johnny and Johnny Jr. (Hayden) decided to call in some pigs... you know those piggy grunting sounds you sometimes hear people make... and by golly, it worked!!This is the happy Tyler and his triumphant pose... too funny. And you say, Shalyn, were's your picture with the stinky smelly gross hog? Um, I declined to have my picture taken. And I don't feel bad about my decision at all.And so now we have hog to eat!! I'll start googling some recipes today; this is a new one for me. Thank you to my boys for a really amazing Mother's Day I will never forget!
