Almost 2014... no way!

Hey everyone.  Tiny update before Christmas comes around the corner.  The kids are wrapping up at school before Christmas break, and here's a few extra pictures to wrap up this part of the school year.

The boys finished off the marching season and did an outstanding job.  They had a lot of fun too.

The game that we got to see Aerin cheer at this year was, oh, probably 30 degrees.  Thankfully, she did have a hoody on, but insisted she had to wear her skirt.  As you can see the other cheerleaders were wrapped in blankets and jackets.  She's a dedicated cheerleader.

Hunting season.  I experienced a hunt this year in the snow.  That was pretty awesome.  We didn't get a deer that morning, but it was gorgeous outside!
But... look who DID get a very big deer this year....

He and Johnny hunted for hours - literally - hiking and stalking deer and he shot this beautiful deer.  He named it Alien.  There's a reason.  Email me if you want to know.
Merry Christmas!!

Hayden's Update

This is Hayden's 8th grade year.  He's played two football games so far, Number 62, is running for Student Counsel, and is marching in the band with his brother.  Working ok so far... at least he is in the trumpet section away from Tyler.  He's a sweet boy still and he's making us very proud.

We had a great view of the sun through a heavy rain cloud.  It looked like fire!
First time to march on the field and he did great!

Aerin's Update

Aerin is an 8th grader at Sundown.  She's currently in cross country, a cheerleader at school, on a professional cheer squad called United Cheer out of Lubbock, and plays saxophone in the Sundown band.  Still trying to get to a game to see her cheer and to watch her run this year.  She is our joy!

As soon as we make it to her events, I'll update her blog post.

Tyler's Update

Our sophomore Tyler - the driver (with an adult in the front seat), the drummer, the t shirt designer for the band and just a great kid all around.

Tyler's homecoming date, Amber.  She's a flag girl.
Oh happy happy happy day!  The permit comes in the mail.  He's a very careful driver.  I'm never nervous with him at the wheel (now the other two... Lord help us!)

Texas the Musical

We had a beautiful night out in Palo Duro Canyon to see the musical Texas. It was the kids first time to see it. Yes, shame on us for that, but they loved it and I'm sure we will all see it again next year. You can't take pictures of the show, but here are a few of us waiting.

Sometimes I wish they'd just stop growing....

but I know that's not how it works.  And I'm very proud of the beautiful/handsome kids I have!

I took  these pictures out where we live.  Notice there's no water in these pictures, but this is where the Lake USED to be and now its just a cool, rocky, scenic spot for pictures!

... And the rest of the 2013 school year in a nut shell...

Tyler finished his Freshman year running the 200 and the mile relay.  He placed 2nd in District in the 200 and received his first letter in track!  He also ranked 3rd this year in the Freshman class and he gathered up quite a few UIL awards for academics too.  He lettered in band as well, but we haven't seen that letter yet.  I'm excited and a little sad for his Sophomore year.  Sophomore... wow.

These socks make me smile, because even though he turns 15 in just 14 days, he still rocks cartoon socks!
And Hayden tried out shot put and discus this year.  I'm really proud of him.  He was a member of the football, basketball and track team.  He was a joy to watch grow into a cool (almost) teenager.  He's so excited about marching season.  The 8th grade marches in the high school band.  Tyler - not so excited about this.

And we didn't get down to Sundown for any track meets this year, but Aerin was a star.  She placed first in almost every running event that she entered in each track meet.  She's an outstanding athlete.  We have been able to see her play in a couple of softball games this season.  She's a catcher, a short stop, a second base, a first base - all around player!

And last but CERTAINLY not least, my husband's amazing project that has been over a year in process, and 9 months in our shop here in Fritch.  This is Johnny's 1928 Ford Tudor that he has pieced together, bled, sweat and prayed over.  And its awesome!!  He just got his first trophy this past weekend for Second Place in the Hot Rod category.  Its a coooooool ride!!!
