Tyler's First Football Game

Tyler plays wide receiver on offense and rover on defense and is on the kick off team. His team has a grand total of 22 7th Graders... hope they are all passing at 6 weeks!!! His first game was at Stratford on Thursday, September 9. They lost, 0-30, but had a good experience for their very first game. This Thursday, he will play against Canadian in Fritch - I'll keep you all posted. By the way, Tyler is the only one wearing blue socks on his team, which we all love, because we can easily spot him on the field.
GO #8!!!!

First we went fishing...

The kids all competed in the Small Fry Fishing Tournament Saturday at Lake Meredith. They had a really great time - and although they didn't win, they all got pretty cool prizes and a free lunch too! It was a little chilly to begin the morning, but everyone was happy and ready to fish.
Looking for just the right spot...

Aerin catches the first fish! She ended up catching two.

Tyler was next with his first little fish. That was his last one. He's not all into the fishing thing.
Hayden caught two catfish!
Heading back to measure our fish for the competition.
Enjoying our free hot dog lunch... the kids would later regret only eating one.

Hanging out with friends - Lauren and Devlin

And the Chick Fil A Cow!!!

... and then we went camping!

Here's the crew... we are backpacking down to Lake Meredith to camp out in tents on the shore. We parked the truck at Harbor Bay and hiked about a mile down the lake shore to a nice sandy cove. We packed our tents, sleeping bags, fishing gear and anything else we could cram into the backpacks and took off!
We arrived at our nice sandy cove. Tyler looks like his back is about to break... and Hayden is preoccupied with a little hitchhiker he picked up along the hike...

poor little lizard!
Time to chop some firewood - slim pickings around here.
Our little tent city - that the kids all set up themselves.

Swim time!!! And again, swiming in fish water GROSS, but they love it.
Next morning... rise and shine... and lets go home and take a shower!!
(that was me that said that!)

Packing up to go back.

HAPPY CAMPERS! - and we left behind a message in the sand...
P.S. I neglected to fill you in on our nightime events. We had every GOOD intention of catching lots and lots of fish and eating them for supper. We didn't catch anything. Nothing. Not one fish. None. And the snacks that the kids had packed just didn't seem to be cutting it. So around 9:30-10 o'clock, Johnny and Aerin volunteer to hike back up, in the dark, and head to the truck and go to Allsups for burritos. Yes, they did. Yes, they were delicious! But for the record, MOM said no, don't go. Please don't go. We will NOT starve to death... but thank you baby for going. Best Allsup's burrito ever!
And that is why you make sure and eat more than one hotdog at the free hotdog lunch!!
